John Gaskell MA (Cantab) – Advanced Completion Technology

John graduated in natural sciences from Cambridge University, and spent his formative O&G career with Schlumberger as a wireline logging and reservoir evaluation engineer, and latterly as one of their training centre managers. He then studied offshore engineering at Aberdeen’s RGIT and so, by now has more than 30 years industry experience, most recently as a consultant. He is a world-renowned expert in advanced completion technologies and is also experienced in petrophysical logging, perforating, production and reservoir monitoring systems. John helped develop and introduce computerised logging, tubing conveyed perforating, memory production logging, and high-reliability permanent gauge systems during the 1980’s and ‘90’s.

As a consultant, has worked on technical integrity and quality control issues associated with multistage sub-sea completions, utilising expandable sand screens, reservoir isolation valves and remote hydraulic flow control including the application of fibre optic sensing. John has a strong mix of both practical and theoretical skills and experiences which offers his clients an invaluable service in terms of avoiding many of the pitfalls that beset lesser “experts”.

John is currently Technical Director of Quick Wells Ltd, a software development company who's primary product, ‘q-Context', provides petroleum engineers with a collaborative and integrated work environment for completion related activities.
