Mike Robinson
Joining Shell’s production group in 1976, Mike worked in many Shell operational areas, including (principally) Qatar, Oman, Tunisia, Spain, Thailand, Syria, the Netherlands and the UK. A senior professional therefore, with over 30 years experience at director level in the on and offshore O&G industry (internationally and in the UKCS). Excellent and proven skills in production, HS&E management, and operations engineering. Team leader for technical development of new equipment/techniques, and for technical option-evaluation. Has an in-depth knowledge of production engineering disciplines, particularly production technology & well completion design, subsea engineering, floating production systems and field abandonment.
After leaving Shell in 2002, Mike Established PETL (Production Engineering Technologies Ltd.) as an independent consultancy providing production technology and production engineering services. Successfully launched, he then became co-founding director of EDP (Energy Development Partners) directly involved with successful fund raising from venture capital markets and later responsible for establishing the EDP business model and developing early project contacts for all aspects of health, safety and environmental management and for operational capability.
Mike has therefore developed a good, practical awareness of petroleum engineering, well engineering, development-field engineering and operational maintenance. He has expert knowledge in completion design and engineering, including intelligent completion and monitoring system application and their value analysis.
Not only experienced in graduate level technical and commercial personnel development, significantly, Mike has also authored the “Intelligent Well Completions” chapter of the SPE Petroleum Engineering Handbook Vol. 6, ISBN 978-1-55563-122-2 2007. Mike is owner and Managing Director of Aquherton Resources Ltd., based in Kintore, Aberdeenshire.
